The South African society is highly stressed, polarised and in this broken state, we are letting our children down. The provision of quality education remains the primary basis through which our economy can develop, children be inspired and empowered towards a better future.

The Young Entrepreneurs Book Club is an initiative of Chartwell Leadership Primary School. The school has made significant strides in entrepreneurial education.  The Young Entrepreneurs Book Club is a children’s club that focusses on entrepreneurship and developing a passion for books amongst learners. The Club is intellectually stimulating and consist of fun activities and experiential learning that children enjoy. The Club is designed to keep children active, productive and entertained in an agricultural setting with farm animals.

The activities consist of hikes, cooking, art, excursions, life skills, sports, technology, horse rides and lots of fun. On the entrepreneurial front, learners are exposed to entrepreneurial mentorship, which entails matching learners with experts and entrepreneurs. The Club complements children’s learning experiences, where reading is a critical component of the club.

The Club is racially diverse to foster racial inclusivity and comradeship amongst children. Forging nationhood is important in instilling a common South African identity amongst our children, enabling them to develop strong bonds of identity and friendships.

The Club is designed to complement the children’s learning experiences and to particularly make reading enriching.  The ultimate objective is develop a passion for reading. Once a child cherishes and loves books, the child develops a natural inclination to read independently.
